About this publication

The beginning deserves some attention

I came to longevity thinking about the far end of life. A developmental experiment moved the question.

The word longevity

Longevity sounds like an ending: how far into the future a life can stretch. The adult-fly survival result after Epitalon exposure during development places the exposure during development, before adult survival was observed. A change at the beginning preceded the observation at the end.

That order is easy to lose in a percentage. I care about recovering it because an intervention begun early and one begun late ask different questions. The mouse study beginning at 3 months and the elderly human follow-up make the distinctions more demanding, with differences in preparation and design as well as starting age.

A satisfying answer, for me, would show which beginnings actually matter. Moving the starting age in a controlled comparison seems a more interesting next step than collecting another broad claim about longevity. For that question, a controlled comparison seems well worth waiting for.

The medical wording

Longevity Medical Wellness is the name of this research publication. Despite the medical wording, it is no business or medical practice: no care, appointments or products are available through these pages. Published research supplies the subject here; the scope of its conclusions is my concern.

Nothing here supplies medical advice or an assessment of anyone's health. A published observation cannot decide an individual's treatment. The word wellness expresses my curiosity about later life; the publication offers no clinical care.

Reasons for continuing the inquiry

I remain curious because these are concrete experiments with concrete beginnings. I remain demanding because even the review of Epitalon's mechanisms notes limited physical, chemical and structural characterisation. A clearer account of the preparation belongs beside better comparisons of starting ages and outcomes.
